Final-year UMST dental students organised a community dental screening event, providing free oral health check-ups and fluoride treatments to residents in the Kigali area.
The event was praised by local community leaders. Deo Nkubito remarked: "This is a wonderful effort by UMST students to address an often-overlooked aspect of community health. Oral health affects everything — nutrition, confidence, general wellbeing."
Student organiser Wisam Abdelazim explained: "This event is important not only for the community we serve but also for developing our clinical skills in a real-world setting. Learning happens beyond the classroom." The initiative exemplifies UMST's commitment to community-engaged, service-oriented medical education.
