Founded in 1996. Initially started with 3 faculties. Today UMST runs 13 undergraduate faculties and 20 postgraduate degrees across 5 countries.
Founded in 1996 in Khartoum as the Academy of Medical Sciences and Technology, UMST began with just 60 students and a bold vision: to bridge educational gaps and produce world-class professionals. By 2007, it had achieved full university status, and today it serves thousands of students across three undergraduate faculties — Medicine, Dentistry, and Medical Laboratory Science.
UMST's curriculum spans far beyond medicine — encompassing engineering, business administration, law, computer science, mass communication, and more. Our graduates are trained to be competent, compassionate professionals prepared to serve communities worldwide.
Following the armed conflict in Sudan in April 2023, UMST launched the visionary 'GO AFRICA' initiative, establishing a cross-border campus in Kigali, Rwanda in partnership with the University of Rwanda. Today, the Kigali campus is fully operational with modern infrastructure, accredited by Rwanda's Higher Education Council, and serving students from across the continent.
We aim to develop competent and socially responsible professionals and lifelong learners in an environment that promotes excellence in teaching, learning, research and community service.
To create a brilliant future for UMST from which students, faculty, staff, the nation and the world will benefit.
