UMST Brings African MENA Brain Week to Rwanda

UMST University hosted the 4th African MENA Brain Week Conference from 5–8 February 2026, bringing together leading researchers, clinicians, and policymakers to address the growing challenge of brain and mental health conditions across Africa and the Middle East.

Professor Mamoun Homeida, UMST Founder and Chancellor, delivered a keynote emphasising that universities play a central role in driving national development through research and the generation of knowledge. Rwanda's Ministry of Health reaffirmed mental health as a national priority, with delegates endorsing a forward-looking agenda centred on prevention, service integration, innovation, and community wellbeing.

The conference drew international participants and produced concrete recommendations for strengthening neurological health systems across the region.
