On 19 December 2024, UMST Rwanda held a vibrant celebration of Sudan's Independence Day, featuring traditional Sudanese dances, live music, poetry, and cultural exhibitions reflecting the rich heritage of the Sudanese people.
Vice Chancellor Shaheen addressed the gathering warmly: "UMST is proud to be a home away from home for our Sudanese students. This celebration is a reminder that no matter where you are, your culture and identity are always with you."
A student in attendance captured the spirit of the evening: "Today, we felt the warmth and acceptance of a community that truly cares. For a moment, we were home." The event brought together students from across UMST's diverse international community in a shared celebration of Sudanese culture.
